About Me
Dr. Jean Baptiste Bukuru is an Academic Director at Bujumbura International University (Burundi). He holds a PhD degree in International law from RUDN University (2021), a Master degree in Law (International protection of human rights) with honors (2016) and a Bachelor degree in Law with honors (2014). He is a focal point at BIU and a member of Management committees of EU-funded projects: DigiGrad Africa (Internationalization and Digitalization of postgraduate training) and AfriquEurope project (Africa-Europe relations). He is a member of Distance, Open e-Learning Practitioners of East Africa (DOLPA-EA).

Dr Jean Baptiste Bukuru previously served as a research-lecturer (2021), a Dean of the faculty of Business Administration and Management and Coordinator of the Master's program (September 2021 to January 2022) at Bujumbura International University.

From September 2017 to June 2021, he worked as an assistant lecturer at the Department of International Law at RUDN University. He has published a number of research papers (articles and books’ chapters) in the field of international law and international protection of human rights.

During his University studies, he served as, among others, a Chairman of the Students' Committee of the Law Faculty at RUDN University, Secretary General of the Association of African Students at RUDN University, Chairman of the Association of Burundian students at RUDN University and Executive Secretary of the Association of Burundian Students in the Russian Federation.
